Teaching CVs in the UK follow specific conventions around QTS, school types, and Ofsted. Here's the complete guide for NQTs and experienced teachers.
A UK teacher CV should include: personal details (name, phone, email, location — not full address), a professional statement, teaching experience in reverse chronological order, education and qualifications (including QTS/QTLS), professional development, and skills. Unlike many professional CVs, teacher CVs should explicitly list the school types, age ranges, and subject specialisms for each role.

For each teaching role, include: school name and type (comprehensive/academy/grammar/independent), local authority or trust, dates, your role title, year groups and subjects taught, class sizes, any additional responsibilities (form tutor, head of year, SENCO support), and 3–4 bullet points highlighting your most significant achievements with measurable outcomes where possible.
Measurable outcomes for teachers: exam results (compared to school average or national average), progress data, attendance improvements, intervention programme results. If your school doesn't share this data, describe observable outcomes — "Designed and delivered a Year 11 intervention programme that ran for 8 weeks prior to GCSEs, attended by 24 students."
For newly qualified teachers applying for their first permanent role, lead with your training school experience and placement outcomes. Include your degree classification and subject, your PGCE/School Direct programme, and any notable achievements during placements. Professional development courses, relevant voluntary experience (tutoring, youth work, sports coaching), and teaching philosophy references from your ITT provider all strengthen an NQT CV.
